There were 2 separate canal cleanup projects in 2013. One was in association with Highlands County to remove some large tires that had been wrongfully discarded in the canals:

The second was a joint effort with the Highlands County Lakes Association. Pictures of that event are available on their Facebook page found here.

As a result of these efforts, a reminder was circulated through the community. As per FLDEP regulations, the canals and lake system are not to be used for the disposal of any materials whatsoever.
